It’s Release day for THE OTHER TWIN!

Posted at Jan 3, 2017 5:00 pm

Happy New Year!  THE OTHER TWIN has lift off! Here’s a little bit about the book. If you’ve been reading the series, you should recognize the hero and heroine. I had a lot of fun writing Cheryl and Nathan’s story.

Who can resist a neighbor in need?

Nathan Forester doesn’t know the first thing about kids. So when the daughter he never knew existed arrives on his doorstep, he needs help, fast! His unlikely ally is next-door neighbor and single mother Cheryl Henshaw. Nathan and Cheryl don’t exactly see eye to eye, but neither can say no to a helping hand.

Renovating Fitzgerald House is Nathan’s chance to finally prove he’s no longer the unreliable twin—and it seems possible with Cheryl by his side. Suddenly their practical arrangement has become something much more. Trust isn’t easy, but they’re stronger when they work together.

I had a blast writing the two kids in the story, even if Josh ended up being a bit of a brat. And poor Issy has a lot of mother issues.

To celebrate the release of the 4th book in the FITZGERALD HOUSE series, I’m giving away a $25 Gift Card.  Just tell me you’re favorite kids story, either your own–or kids that you know.

THROUGH A MAGNOLIA FILTER print copies are now available!

Posted at Aug 10, 2016 12:39 am

Coya9uGXYAAU7VZToday the print copies of THROUGH A MAGNOLIA FILTER released through retailers. (Harlequin already had the print books for sale.)

So to celebrate — let’s have another TUESDAY TEASER!

Dolley crossed her arms. “You don’t think I can cut it as a photographer?”Conb6QTWAAAEIzw

“No.” Liam hurried to her, catching her elbows. “I mean, yes, you can. Of course you can.”

She backed away from him.

He held up his hands like she was a hot stove. He was losing her. “I mean, you’re already a photographer.”

She raised her eyebrows.

“I put your picture in the articles because they’re good,” he said.

She pointed a finger at him. “And your name came first. I wasn’t even mentioned in the article.”

“How many times do I have to apologize? I tried to help you.”

She held up her hands, shaking her head. “When you think of me working, what comes to mind?”

“Land mines,” he said under his breath. He was going to step on one and have it explode in his face.

“What?”

“I…I don’t try and put you in a…pocket. I see you first as a…Fitzgerald, a successful businesswoman. A woman who’s part of an incredible family.”

She closed her eyes. “Don’t.”

He closed the gap that was growing between them. “I also see you as a budding photographer, absorbing everything I can teach you.”

“Budding. Student.” Her words choked out.

“And talented.” He reached for her again.

Pain-filled green eyes looked up at him. “No one sees that but you.”

“Because everything you touch is gold. And, yes, you’re an amazing website designer.” His words poured out. “But that’s because of the creative way you view the world. You see the world through the lens of an artist.”

She sank back into the chair. “Like I said, no one sees that but you.”

“But they will.”

“Not if I move to New York and design websites.”

“Then don’t.” His hands formed into fists.

“But…”

“Tell Barb you’ll take the job but only if you can stay here.” With him. “You can head up there when necessary.”

“But…”

He wasn’t going to let her line up her arguments.

“Stay here. With me.” He knelt at her feet. “I’ve fallen in love with your family, with Savannah.” He clutched her knees. “I think I’m falling in love with you.”

Her mouth dropped open. “You…you’re what?” she squeaked.

He huffed out a breath. “I…I think I’m falling in love with you. Stay here with me and your incredible family.”

Her eyes were big green marbles. She gripped the chair arms as if her body would blow away in the storm. “I…I…”

His heart pounded in his chest. “I know you feel something.”

“But…” She pushed deep into her chair. Trying to get away from him?

He rocked back to his feet. “I thought you might feel the same. Was I fooling myself?” His voice growled a little.

“Liam. I…” She wouldn’t look him in the eye.

She was pushing him away. He shook his head.

He’d misread her. Made tactical errors. Let his need for what she had, what he could be a part of rush him into a confession he wasn’t even sure was true. Did he love Dolley?

“I don’t know what I feel.” She wrapped her arms around her stomach and curled into a ball. “I don’t know what I want. I don’t know what’s good for me.”

“We can work together.”

“I’d always be in your shadow.”

“But how can you leave your family, your friends?” What else could he use to convince her that she shouldn’t move to New York? “Don’t throw us away. I can’t lose another family.”

“Family?” Her eyes flared open. “This is about my family, not me.”

“What?” Panic churned in his chest.

“I’m just a…a way for you to become part of the Fitzgeralds.” Her breath shook. “You don’t want me. You want…them.”

“Dolley.” He pounded on his forehead with his fist. “We’re good together. I can teach you more. We’ll figure it out. But not if you move.”

“I’d be your apprentice. Always overlooked. You’d use me to get what you’ve always wanted…a family.” Injured green eyes looked up into his. “That’s not what I want. I…I deserve more. When would I get to travel? When would I get my dreams? I want my own career. Not just to be an extension of yours.”

“I thought we were a team. I care about you!”

“Not enough,” she whispered.

Pain ripped through him. He wasn’t enough for her. She wanted travel and recognition. She wanted to rip up the roots anchoring her to Savannah and leave.

If she left, where did that leave him?

She didn’t care about him. She cared about what he could do for her career. He didn’t matter.

“You only wanted me for what I could do for you.” Shaking his head, he moved to the door, his feet and heart heavy. “I’m never enough.”

Tuesday Teaser! THROUGH A MAGNOLIA FILTER

Posted at Jul 19, 2016 1:11 am

9780373610006It’s time for another Tuesday Teaser! Of course it’s from my August release — THROUGH A MAGNOLIA FILTER. I had a blast signing books in San Diego and was thrilled that I got to sign this book–even though it hasn’t been released.

This scene happens the day they first meet. Liam has just arrived at the B and B.

Liam popped one last cracker in his mouth. “You take the photos for the website, right?”
Dolley nodded, chewing on her lower lip.
“You’ve an excellent hand with the camera.” He tried not to stare at her mouth. He was supposed to be scoping out the territory. But the sight of her lower lip, now wet and slightly pink from her teeth, was…entrancing.
“Me?” Her eyes widened. Her fair skin turned a beautiful peach color with her blush.
“Your photographs are well composed. You use light like an artist.”
“Coming from you, I’m awestruck.” Her hand pressed against her chest. A rather lovely chest, at that.Camera
He forced his gaze up to her face. “Did you study under someone?”
“I took classes in college, but nothing serious.” She shook her head, and her curls danced. “Nothing like what you must have done.”
“I never went to university.”
She leaned forward. “But you’re so good.”
Her frock gapped, and he got a small peek of the valley between her breasts. Devil take his soul, he was having trouble keeping his eyes where they belonged.
“I apprenticed with some wonderful photographers,” he said. “That sounds grander than it really is. I hauled equipment and spent hours in the darkroom, or scrolling and deleting blurred photos, but I watched them work. They critiqued and explained and made me the photographer I am.”
“You were an apprentice.” Her fingernail tapped the cutie-pie curve of her top lip. “I don’t suppose you need one while you’re in Savannah? I really want to learn more.”
“I’ve only had one apprentice.” He exhaled. “It’s a commitment to bring out the artist in a photographer.”
And that hadn’t ended well. Kieran had used him to get ahead. That was expected. But his apprentice had had little patience. He’d falsified a recommendation by using Liam’s own email.
Since Kieran, he’d been reluctant to take on anyone else. His focus in Savannah was his documentary, not training a novice.
But working with Dolley might be another way to absorb the Fitzgerald experience.
“Let me get some sleep.” He stood. “I’ll think on your request.”

THROUGH A MAGNOLIA FILTER – Teaser Tuesday

Posted at Jul 13, 2016 1:07 am

Next month THROUGH A MAGNOLIA FILTER releases! Thought I would give you a little teaser of the opening of the book.

If you read A SAVANNAH CHRISTMAS WISH, you briefly met Liam Delaney on Christmas Day. Now he and Dolley have their own book.

Here’s the excerpt.

9780373610006LIAM DELANEY WAS an orphan. Again. He laced his hands together and waited for the priest to bury his godfather. A sigh whistled between his lips. At thirty, being alone shouldn’t matter. But it did. Was it wrong to want a home, a family? To belong?

The wind caught the priest’s deep voice and swirled it round the cemetery. Latin. English. The languages blended in the breeze.

Ignoring the words, Liam listened to the priest’s tone for any hint of sorrow at the passing of the man in the coffin. He heard none. No surprise that. He’d lived with the man for eleven long years.

This day couldn’t end soon enough. He was ready to escape Kilkee for the final time. Leave this reminder of his childhood and catch a plane—anywhere. Just so he wasn’t in Clare, Ireland.

As a distraction, he plotted how he would film Seamus FitzGerald’s funeral. With a wide angle, he’d pan from the crumbling dark stone wall through the gray-and-white crosses and sinking headstones. While the priest droned, he’d linger on the yellow warbler perched on a cherub statue and let its sweet, clear song play. The camera would swing to the Celtic cross marking his godparents’ graves. The towering cross lorded over the monuments of the other FitzGeralds buried near.

Seamus’s wife had died twenty-five years ago. Liam had only known her through pictures he’d found in the manor. Photographic evidence Seamus had once been happy.

When Seamus buried his wife, he’d buried his smile.

After pausing the camera on the cross, he’d pan to the eight mourners gathered round the open grave. The priest. The housekeeper. The mortuary man. The groundskeeper. Three strangers, one young and two who must be Seamus’s chums. And him, the unloved godchild. Standing alone.

Compared to memories of his parents’ funeral, this service was stark. For his da and mum there had been flowers, music, tears and hordes of people. Liam had stood next to his scowling godfather, grieving. He hadn’t realized he would never be hugged again. A lad of eight needed hugs.

He’d learned to expect no affection from the man in the coffin.

A gust of wind fluttered the flower petals in the arrangement straddling the yawning hole. A bee flitted from the single funereal wreath. His camera would follow the bee as it left the daisy to circle Father Patrick’s head.

The priest intoned, “Because God has chosen to call our brother, Seamus James FitzGerald, from this life to himself, we commit his body to the earth, for we are dust and unto dust we shall return.”

Liam would shift the camera frame to the housekeeper’s face. Wind tugged strands of gray hair free from her bun and ruffled her black skirt. He’d track the tear slipping down her lined cheek in a harsh unforgiving close-up.

Why would anyone shed a tear for Seamus?

Cut.

The eBook releases August 1 and the Paperback August 9th.

By Pintip Dunn

Sixteen-year-old Jessa Stone is the most valuable citizen in Eden City. Her psychic abilities could lead to significant scientific discoveries, if only she’d let TechRA study her. But ten years ago, the scientists kidnapped and experimented on her, leading to severe ramifications for her sister, Callie. She’d much rather break into their labs and sabotage their research—starting with Tanner Callahan, budding scientist and the boy she loathes most at school.

The past isn’t what she assumed, though—and neither is Tanner. He’s not the arrogant jerk she thought he was. And his research opens the door to the possibility that Jessa can rectify a fatal mistake made ten years earlier. She’ll do anything to change the past and save her sister—even if it means teaming up with the enemy she swore to defeat.

Forget Tomorrow (Forget Tomorrow, #1) Book Synopsis:

Imagine a world where your destiny has already been decided…by your future self.

It’s Callie’s seventeenth birthday and, like everyone else, she’s eagerly awaiting her vision―a memory sent back in time to sculpt each citizen into the person they’re meant to be. A world-class swimmer. A renowned scientist.

Or in Callie’s case, a criminal.

In her vision, she sees herself murdering her gifted younger sister. Before she can process what it means, Callie is arrested and placed in Limbo―a prison for those destined to break the law. With the help of her childhood crush, Logan, a boy she hasn’t spoken to in five years, she escapes the hellish prison.

But on the run from her future, as well as the government, Callie sets in motion a chain of events that she hopes will change her fate. If not, she must figure out how to protect her sister from the biggest threat of all—Callie, herself.
